About the Opportunity
Ericsson is seeking a Packet Core & Cloud Infrastructure Expert to design, deploy, and operate telecom packet core systems on virtualised and cloud-native infrastructures.
The successful candidate will combine expertise in telecom core networks with cloud platform operations to ensure resilient, scalable, and high-performing environments supporting 4G and 5G services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage cloud infrastructure supporting packet core systems.
- Deploy and support virtualised and cloud-native network functions on OpenStack and Kubernetes.
- Oversee infrastructure lifecycle activities, including installation, upgrades, patching, and scaling.
- Ensure high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource optimisation.
- Lead troubleshooting across network, compute, storage, and virtualisation layers.
- Support the integration of core network nodes.
- Drive automation through DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code.
- Monitor systems using industry-standard tools.
- Ensure security, system hardening, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Collaborate with vendors, Radio Access Network (RAN), transport, and IT teams.
- Manage incidents, root-cause analysis, and escalations.
Skills and Experience
- Deep knowledge of cellular network core architectures and signalling protocols.
- Hands-on experience with OpenStack and Kubernetes environments.
- Strong expertise in cloud computing, storage, and networking.
- Proven troubleshooting skills across multiple infrastructure layers.
- Experience working in 24/7 production-critical environments.
- Expertise in high-availability design and disaster recovery.
- Knowledge of security hardening and compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team collaboration skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in telecom core networks and cloud infrastructure.
- Proficiency with OpenStack and/or Kubernetes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud or container orchestration certifications.
- Experience with Ericsson Telco Cloud platforms.
- Exposure to 5G deployments.
- Experience working in large-scale production environments.
