Job Description

Blue Phoenix Deepwater Limited is recruiting an experienced Payroll / Tax & Compliance Accountant to manage payroll, payroll-related taxes, statutory remittances and compliance documentation for offshore and onshore project personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate monthly payroll for project personnel, including salaries, offshore allowances, rotations, overtime, bonuses, deductions and approved adjustments.
  • Validate employee master data, timesheets, offshore days, leave, overtime and other payroll inputs before processing.
  • Ensure payroll approvals follow appropriate authority levels and segregation-of-duties requirements.
  • Calculate and coordinate timely remittance of PAYE and other applicable statutory deductions.
  • Coordinate pension, NSITF, NHF and other applicable statutory deductions and remittances.
  • Support payroll and tax administration for expatriate and non-resident personnel where applicable.
  • Coordinate payroll, tax and supporting documentation with HR, tax advisers and relevant authorities.
  • Prepare payroll, tax and statutory compliance reports for management.
  • Support tax, payroll and statutory audits and provide required documentation.
  • Maintain proper records, supporting documentation and audit trails.
  • Ensure compliance with financial controls, delegated authorities, project procedures and applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • ACA, ACCA, CITN or an equivalent professional qualification is mandatory.
  • 5–8 years of relevant payroll, tax and statutory compliance experience.
  • Experience in oil and gas, offshore, marine or project operations is preferred.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, professional discipline and sound judgement.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
