PricePally is a technology-enabled food sourcing, aggregation and distribution company that connects producers and food businesses with consumer and institutional markets. The company is contributing to a large-scale agrifood transformation programme focused on creating sustainable work opportunities for Nigerian youth aged 18–35, with particular attention to young women, persons with disabilities and internally displaced persons.

Job Description

The Programme Director will provide strategic, technical and managerial leadership for PricePally’s agrifood transformation portfolio. The role will oversee programme planning, implementation, governance, partnerships, performance management, risk management and funder compliance.

The successful candidate will ensure that production, aggregation, logistics, digital systems and market linkages operate as an integrated farm-to-market model while promoting inclusion, safeguarding and long-term programme sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Programme Governance

  • Provide strategic direction for PricePally’s programme portfolio.
  • Translate programme commitments into work plans, milestones, budgets and accountabilities.
  • Establish effective governance, decision-making, escalation and change-control systems.
  • Coordinate production, processing, logistics and market distribution interventions.
  • Advise senior leadership on programme performance, risks and opportunities.
  • Lead adaptive management and programme improvement.

Programme Planning and Implementation

  • Oversee implementation plans covering participant mobilisation, aggregation, logistics, digital platforms and market development.
  • Ensure interventions are driven by verified market requirements.
  • Set programme-wide delivery standards.
  • Coordinate functional leads and zonal teams.
  • Oversee programme readiness reviews and corrective actions.
  • Ensure programme assets, infrastructure, systems and partnerships are cost-effective and sustainable.

Stakeholder and Partnership Management

  • Represent PricePally to funders, implementation partners and strategic stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with government agencies, private-sector off-takers, processors, financial institutions, logistics providers and producer organisations.
  • Participate in programme reviews, technical working groups and governance meetings.
  • Negotiate strategic partnerships within delegated authority.
  • Promote youth and community participation.
  • Represent the programme at relevant industry, policy and learning forums.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Inclusion

  • Establish baselines, targets, data systems and verification protocols.
  • Ensure credible measurement of new and improved work opportunities.
  • Integrate gender equality, disability inclusion, IDP participation and safeguarding into programme delivery.
  • Use performance data, feedback and market evidence to guide programme decisions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate programme, financial and results reporting.
  • Document lessons, case studies and scalable implementation models.

Financial, Risk and Compliance Management

  • Oversee the approved programme budget and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Support forecasting, expenditure control, procurement planning and value-for-money management.
  • Maintain an integrated programme risk register.
  • Ensure compliance with programme agreements, funder requirements, company policies and applicable Nigerian laws.
  • Oversee procurement, contracting, asset management and partner due diligence.
  • Lead responses to audits, monitoring findings and compliance issues.

People and Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary programme management team.
  • Establish clear objectives, responsibilities and performance expectations.
  • Promote an inclusive and collaborative working culture.
  • Support programme recruitment and workforce planning.
  • Ensure appropriate training on safeguarding, inclusion, health and safety, data protection and the Code of Conduct.
  • Address performance and capacity issues promptly.
  • Develop succession and knowledge-transfer plans.

Safeguarding

  • Promote a zero-tolerance approach to sexual exploitation, abuse, harassment, discrimination, bullying and abuse of power.
  • Establish safe and confidential reporting and referral mechanisms.
  • Ensure safeguarding concerns are promptly escalated and appropriately managed.
  • Promote safe programming through risk assessment, partner due diligence and responsible data management.

Requirements

Competencies

  • Strong strategic leadership and programme management skills.
  • Good understanding of agrifood systems, agricultural value chains, market systems, aggregation, logistics and private-sector delivery models.
  • Experience managing large, multi-year funded programmes, budgets, risks and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong commercial judgement and understanding of market demand, unit economics and operational sustainability.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, facilitation, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High integrity, discretion, cultural sensitivity and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusive development.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressively responsible experience in programme management, agribusiness, food systems, market systems development, livelihoods, supply chains or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership position managing complex programmes, multidisciplinary teams and significant budgets.
  • Experience managing externally funded programmes and multi-partner delivery arrangements.
  • Experience coordinating government, private-sector, civil-society and community stakeholders across multiple locations.
  • Experience developing or scaling market access, aggregation, logistics, digital commerce or agricultural value-chain initiatives.
  • Experience integrating gender equality, disability inclusion, youth participation and safeguarding into programme delivery.
  • Experience in Nigeria’s agricultural or food-market sector is strongly preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Economics, Business Administration, Development Studies, Project Management, Supply Chain Management or another relevant discipline.
