Job Purpose
To optimise oil extraction from prepared palm kernel cake while maintaining product quality and achieving production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect the extractor feed hopper periodically to ensure the free flow of palm kernel cake through the extractor bed and maintain an adequate material seal.
- Measure the levels of solvent in underground tanks at the beginning and end of each shift and report the readings to the supervisor on duty.
- Inspect the flow rate of miscella and monitor the operation of the extractor hexane sprayer pump.
- Monitor operating parameters of the DT, distillation and hexane recovery systems.
- Record instrument readings and quality control test results.
- Monitor temperature and steam pressure gauges, flowmeters and ammeters, adjusting valves and handwheels as necessary to maintain the required operating conditions.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety Management System (FSMS) requirements within the assigned work processes.
- Understand the company’s food safety policy, objectives and the benefits of an effective food safety management system.
- Identify food safety risks, opportunities and potential consequences associated with departmental processes and FSMS requirements.
Requirements
Interested candidates must possess the following:
- An Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing, production or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.
- Practical knowledge of solvent extraction plant operations.
