Job Title: Surveillance Operator

Role Purpose
The Surveillance Operator will oversee the daily operations of the Physical Security Operations Centre (P-SOC), including monitoring security events, analysing incidents, responding to threats and supporting a robust 24/7 security posture.
The role will also proactively identify opportunities to improve P-SOC processes, performance and effectiveness.
Responsibilities
Supervisory and Operational
- Ensure the P-SOC complies with relevant security standards and regulations.
- Develop P-SOC performance management tools.
- Monitor and analyse video surveillance and telemetry feeds.
- Identify potential threats, vulnerabilities and attack vectors, and develop use cases for security monitoring.
- Coordinate the collation and analysis of security data from internal and external sources and produce formal security updates.
- Work with other security teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Develop regular metrics, dashboards and reports for P-SOC operations for relevant stakeholders, as approved by the Enterprise Security Manager or Chief Security Officer (CSO).
- Ensure compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs) and process requirements to achieve operational objectives.
- Provide security context analysis and daily security updates, and promptly communicate relevant security information, analysis and recommendations to security management.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics to track P-SOC effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Continuously monitor security events and systems for anomalies and suspicious activity.
- Provide clerical and administrative support for security operations.
- Schedule meetings and coordinate appointments.
- Provide first-line equipment preventive and corrective maintenance support.
- Perform threat management and threat modelling, identify threat vectors and develop use cases for security monitoring.
- Communicate effectively and escalate issues appropriately during incident response.
- Proactively identify potential threats and vulnerabilities within the security architecture.
- Perform security administrative functions.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Enterprise Security Manager or CSO.
Financial
- Ensure physical security systems are functioning correctly and remain fit for purpose, troubleshooting issues and coordinating corrective action while mitigating risks to facilities.
- Effectively manage and control security resources and operational logistics.
- Review and process third-party contract monthly invoices for accountability.
Team Training and Development
- Provide leadership, mentorship and performance management for direct reports.
- Work closely with internal teams and outsourced partners to maintain positive working relationships and ensure incidents are remediated within agreed SLAs.
- Assist the Security Manager in providing in-depth security inductions for new staff and additional briefings following significant changes in the security environment.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a science or security-related discipline.
- Relevant professional security certification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of three years’ relevant experience.
