OPSL Capital Ventures Limited is recruiting a Sustainability Officer on behalf of its client in the upstream oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will support the development, implementation and oversight of the Group’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and systems, helping the organisation align with international best practices and operate as a responsible and sustainable business.

Responsibilities

Sustainability Strategy, Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Support the research and development of sustainability policies and best-practice guidance by benchmarking against international standards and peer organisations.
  • Collect and analyse sustainability data from various departments using standardised tools and templates.
  • Support corporate sustainability initiatives covering carbon reduction, waste management and resource efficiency.
  • Track sustainability KPIs using dashboards and periodic progress reports.
  • Prepare sustainability reports using recognised frameworks, including GRI, SASB and IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.

Sustainability Project Implementation

  • Support energy efficiency, biodiversity enhancement and green stewardship initiatives.
  • Coordinate project timelines and deliverables to ensure sustainability projects progress from planning to measurable impact.
  • Support the Group’s decarbonisation programmes by tracking milestones, consolidating progress updates and identifying implementation risks.
  • Participate in sustainability awareness campaigns, events and communications.

Stakeholder Engagement & Awareness

  • Identify and map internal and external sustainability stakeholders.
  • Coordinate sustainability ambassador meetings across departments.
  • Prepare agendas, facilitate discussions and document action points.
  • Develop sustainability awareness content for Microsoft Teams, email campaigns and internal events.
  • Support external stakeholder engagement by preparing briefing materials, presentations and follow-up correspondence for regulators, partners and industry bodies.

ESG Data Management & Compliance

  • Coordinate the collection of departmental ESG data covering the past five years.
  • Review departmental data against GRI, SASB and IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
  • Identify gaps in existing sustainability metrics and recommend additional measures.
  • Work with IT and HR teams to consolidate sustainability data from different departments into a centralised dashboard.
  • Support the development of reliable ESG data infrastructure for reporting and benchmarking.

Capability Development

  • Develop technical capability in sustainability reporting, ESG frameworks and data analytics tools.
  • Use Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL and Python in sustainability-related tasks where applicable.
  • Participate in sustainability training, webinars and professional development programmes.
  • Support the onboarding and orientation of new sustainability team members and interns.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Law, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management or a related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to contribute to organisational change.
  • Experience developing and implementing sustainability or ESG strategies within a corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, standards and sustainable business practices locally and internationally.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems and sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI and SASB.
  • Experience in sustainability data collection, validation and performance reporting.
  • Knowledge of ESG data analytics tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL or Python will be valuable.
