Job Summary

Dangote Group is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to take strategic and operational ownership of warehousing, materials management and logistics activities supporting the Polypropylene (PP) plant within the petrochemical refinery complex.

The successful candidate will ensure the safe, reliable and cost-efficient storage, handling and movement of raw materials, catalysts, additives, packaging materials, spare parts and finished PP products. The role will also focus on maintaining uninterrupted plant production, optimising inventory working capital and ensuring compliance with HSE and process safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Strategic Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Define and implement warehouse and inventory management strategies aligned with plant production plans and corporate supply chain objectives.
  • Set appropriate minimum and maximum stock levels, safety stocks and reorder points for PP resin, additives, catalysts, packaging materials and critical spare parts.
  • Manage annual warehouse operating and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Monitor spending and drive cost-efficiency initiatives.
  • Oversee inventory valuation and the management of slow-moving and obsolete stock.
  • Coordinate write-off and disposal processes with Finance.
  • Lead root-cause investigations into significant inventory variances, shortages and dispatch failures.
  • Implement corrective actions to address recurring inventory and warehouse issues.

Operations & Logistics Leadership

  • Direct end-to-end warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, palletising/bagging, silo management, picking and dispatch.
  • Ensure truck, rail and bulk dispatch operations meet customer commitments and internal service-level agreements.
  • Minimise turnaround times and demurrage costs.
  • Optimise warehouse layout, storage infrastructure and material flow to maximise throughput and space utilisation.
  • Manage third-party logistics providers, transporters and contract warehousing partners where applicable.
  • Drive automation and digitalisation initiatives, including WMS enhancements, barcode/RFID and automated storage and retrieval systems.

People Leadership & Organisational Development

  • Lead, mentor and develop Warehouse Leads and the wider warehouse team.
  • Build succession coverage and technical capability for critical warehouse positions.
  • Set performance objectives and conduct employee appraisals.
  • Manage workforce planning, staffing levels, shift structures and contractor requirements.
  • Promote a high-performance, safety-first culture.
  • Ensure warehouse personnel receive appropriate training in SAP, equipment operation and HSE procedures.

HSE, Risk & Regulatory Compliance

  • Take overall responsibility for HSE and process safety performance across warehouse, yard and logistics operations.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous materials storage regulations and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Enforce fire and explosion prevention standards and environmental requirements.
  • Lead or oversee investigations into significant incidents, near-misses and audit findings.
  • Ensure corrective and preventive actions are closed within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain business continuity and emergency response readiness.
  • Develop contingency plans for potential supply and logistics disruptions.

Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the key interface between Warehousing/Logistics and Production, Procurement, Planning, Quality, Finance and Commercial/Sales teams.
  • Align warehouse capacity and service levels with production schedules, demand forecasts and supplier delivery plans.
  • Report warehouse performance, operational risks and improvement initiatives to plant leadership and corporate supply chain stakeholders.
  • Support customer logistics requirements, including delivery reliability, documentation and certificates of analysis.
  • Promote continuous improvement, benchmarking and best-practice adoption across the warehouse and logistics function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree or MBA is an advantage.
  • Professional certification in Supply Chain, Logistics or Inventory Management, such as APICS/CPIM, CSCP, CILT or Six Sigma, is strongly preferred.
  • 10–12 years’ progressive experience in warehousing, materials management or supply chain operations.
  • Significant experience in petrochemical, polymer, heavy industrial or refinery environments.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ managerial experience leading multi-shift warehouse or logistics teams.
  • Experience with budget and P&L management.
  • Proven experience managing bulk polymer/resin storage, packaging or bagging operations and finished-product dispatch logistics.
  • Demonstrated experience leading warehouse process improvement, automation or digitalisation initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE and process safety management in refinery or petrochemical environments.
  • Advanced hands-on experience with SAP MM/WM/EWM or equivalent ERP/WMS platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance and system integration.

  • Experience integrating SAP with production planning/MES systems and demand forecasting tools.
  • Familiarity with barcode/RFID scanning, automated storage and retrieval systems and digital yard/silo monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, SAP Analytics Cloud, advanced Excel or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Understanding of data governance, cybersecurity awareness and ERP/WMS access controls.
  • Exposure to IoT sensors, predictive inventory analytics and warehouse automation is an advantage.
