Job Summary
Dangote Group is seeking a Warehouse Team Lead to oversee the safe, efficient and accurate receipt, storage, handling and dispatch of polypropylene (PP) resin, additives, catalysts, packaging materials, spare parts and finished PP products within the plant warehouse and yard facilities.
The role will ensure uninterrupted material availability for continuous PP production, protect product quality and integrity during storage, and maintain inventory accuracy, space optimisation and compliance with HSE and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Inventory & Materials Management
- Oversee receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing and dispatch of PP resin, packaging materials and spare parts.
- Maintain accurate real-time inventory records in SAP MM/WM and ensure system stock matches physical stock.
- Plan and conduct periodic cycle counts and full physical stock takes.
- Investigate and resolve inventory variances.
- Monitor stock levels against minimum and maximum thresholds.
- Flag reorder points and slow-moving or obsolete inventory to Planning and Procurement.
- Ensure FIFO/FEFO principles are applied appropriately to PP resin and additive storage.
Warehouse Operations & Dispatch
- Coordinate inbound receipt of bulk PP resin, catalysts, additives and packaging materials against purchase orders and quality certificates.
- Supervise palletising, bagging, stacking and storage of finished PP products in accordance with product segregation and grade-specific requirements.
- Plan and control outbound truck, rail and bulk dispatch schedules.
- Ensure customer and internal delivery commitments are met while minimising loading and turnaround times.
- Verify correct labelling, batch traceability and documentation, including delivery notes, weighbridge tickets and certificates of analysis.
- Optimise warehouse layout, racking and silo utilisation to improve storage capacity and material flow.
Team Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead, schedule and supervise warehouse supervisors, storekeepers, forklift operators and material handlers across shifts.
- Allocate manpower and material-handling equipment according to daily operational requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks, performance reviews and on-the-job training.
- Promote accountability, safety ownership and continuous improvement within the warehouse team.
HSE & Regulatory Compliance
- Enforce safe handling and storage practices for PP resin, including controls for combustible dust and static risks.
- Ensure safe handling of catalysts and other materials with process safety implications.
- Ensure compliance with refinery HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, hazardous materials storage regulations and emergency response procedures.
- Conduct regular safety walk-downs and 5S housekeeping audits.
- Inspect forklifts, racking systems, fire protection systems and other warehouse equipment.
- Lead investigations into warehouse-related near-misses, product damage and losses.
- Implement corrective actions arising from incidents and safety findings.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Continuous Improvement
- Liaise with Production and Planning teams to align material availability with PP production schedules and prevent line stoppages.
- Coordinate with Procurement on supplier delivery performance, material quality issues and lead-time management.
- Support Quality Assurance in managing quarantine, hold and rejected material storage and disposition.
- Identify and drive process improvement initiatives, including layout redesign, automation and WMS enhancements.
- Prepare periodic reports covering inventory accuracy, dispatch KPIs and warehouse costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
- Professional certification in Warehousing, Logistics or Inventory Management, such as CILT, APICS/CPIM or CSCP, is an advantage.
- 5–8 years’ progressive experience in warehouse or materials management.
- Experience in a petrochemical, polymer, refinery or heavy industrial manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Prior experience handling bulk polymer/resin products such as PP or PE and packaging/bagging operations is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a supervisory or team-lead capacity.
- Experience working in or alongside process or production units within a refinery or petrochemical complex.
- Good understanding of HSE and process safety management systems.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/WMS systems, particularly SAP MM/WM or an equivalent platform.
Functional Competencies
- Inventory management and stock control, including FIFO/FEFO, ABC analysis and cycle counting.
- Warehouse layout design and space/capacity optimisation.
- Safe operation of material-handling equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks and palletisers.
- Knowledge of polymer/PP resin properties, storage requirements and packaging methods.

- Ability to generate and interpret SAP reports for stock status, inventory ageing and movement history.
- Familiarity with transaction codes such as MB52, MB5B and MMBE is an advantage.
- Familiarity with barcode/RFID scanning systems integrated with SAP is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for inventory analysis, KPI tracking and dashboard reporting.
- Knowledge of pivot tables and lookup functions.
- Exposure to digital yard/silo monitoring, telemetry or automated inventory sensors is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of SAP integration with production planning/MES systems.
