Job Description

The Warehouse Supervisor will oversee warehouse operations, inventory management, material handling and documentation while ensuring that warehouse policies, quality objectives, safety standards and delivery requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation of warehouse operating policies and procedures.
  • Ensure quality objectives and delivery deadlines are met in line with business requirements.
  • Liaise with cross-functional departments and ensure all warehouse transactions are appropriately recorded in SAP in accordance with warehouse procedures.
  • Ensure incoming materials are properly managed, including safe receipt, quantity confirmation, material tagging, preservation and binning.
  • Coordinate with user departments for quality inspection of received materials and ensure appropriate posting in SAP.
  • Ensure 100% material identification tagging of stocked materials.
  • Ensure physical stock verification is carried out in accordance with warehouse operating procedures and reconcile discrepancies where necessary.
  • Ensure 100% accuracy between physical stock and system stock.
  • Maintain inventory integrity by ensuring all inventory transactions are properly accounted for in SAP.
  • Ensure FIFO/FEFO methods are followed in the warehouse.
  • Preserve materials according to requirements or user guidelines.
  • Monitor and track items with shelf-life requirements.
  • Organise the warehouse according to item categories.
  • Ensure safe storage, handling and movement of materials within the warehouse.
  • Train and manage the warehouse team to resolve day-to-day operational issues and achieve short- and long-term performance goals.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly warehouse activity reports and circulate them to relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare appropriate warehouse documentation, including receipts, issues, returns, stock transfers and gate passes, in line with best practices and guidance from the Warehouse Head.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Sales, Customer Service and other departments to coordinate inventory planning, order processing and customer delivery requirements in line with business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree or professional certification such as APICS or CSCP is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse management, distribution or logistics operations, with a track record of managing large-scale warehouses or distribution centres.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management principles, logistics processes and supply chain best practices.
  • Experience implementing warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, security protocols and workplace health standards governing warehouse operations, including OSHA requirements.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate and develop warehouse staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, negotiate with stakeholders and communicate effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyse data, identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems, inventory control software and Microsoft Office applications for data analysis, reporting and communication.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and changing business needs.
