Job Objective

The BCM Relationship Manager will work with the Unit Head, Business Continuity Management (BCM), to develop, implement, maintain and test the Bank’s business continuity programme.

The role will serve as a focal point for assigned Strategic Business Units (SBUs), coordinating the identification, documentation and testing of business requirements against the Bank’s infrastructure while identifying recovery strategies and gaps.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Business Continuity Planning efforts for Head Office departments, units and branches across assigned regions.
  • Review Business Continuity Management manuals and procedures developed in line with the Bank’s strategy.
  • Identify business activities across the organisation, determine mission-critical activities bank-wide and conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA).
  • Collect and analyse data to determine continuity requirements for the recovery of mission-critical activities across the Bank.
  • Conduct organisational risk assessments to reduce the likelihood and potential impact of disruptions.
  • Identify internal and external threats and risks that could affect the Bank’s operations.
  • Determine the likelihood and potential impact of identified threats and risks.
  • Proactively engage branches and departments within the assigned directorate to ensure timely preparation and periodic updating of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs).
  • Facilitate and support the execution of business continuity plans during crisis events.
  • Lead and facilitate plan execution and support plan navigation for Head Office departments, branches and SBUs during an event.
  • Develop and execute maintenance and testing programmes for business plans, websites and other information and communication tools.
  • Provide visibility and reporting to the Crisis Management Committee on critical functions, personnel and infrastructure identified within business plans.
  • Assist in conducting Training Needs Analysis for Business Continuity Management roles across the Bank.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training and awareness sessions as part of the bank-wide training plan for Business Continuity Management and Operational Risk Management.
  • Source and prepare BCM training programmes and materials and customise them according to business needs.
  • Support the Unit Head, BCM, in the implementation, maintenance and coordination of Business Continuity standards and ISO 22301 certification initiatives to strengthen enterprise resilience.
  • Support and assist SBUs in developing BCP plans and goals.
  • Report to relevant Steering Committee meetings and define ongoing goals, objectives and initiatives.
  • Support the BCM Lead in aligning BCP planning, initiatives and goals with organisational objectives and infrastructure capabilities.
  • Identify and recommend changes and adaptations required to meet business needs.
  • Identify and recommend solutions to infrastructure obstacles and business challenges.
  • Develop training materials, including e-flyers, e-learning content, scenarios and BCM staff handbooks.
  • Assist in coordinating Business Continuity Management Review Committee meetings, Damage Assessment Meetings, and BCM exercises and testing.

Requirements

Education

  • Minimum of a First Degree, preferably in a numerate discipline.
  • Higher degrees, MBA or relevant professional certifications are desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in operational risk and banking operations.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of banking structures, policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of core business processes.
  • Knowledge of Business Continuity Management (BCM).
  • Knowledge of disaster management.
  • Process analysis.
