Job Objective

The Operational Risk Relationship Manager will assist the Head, Operational Risk Management (ORM) and Unit Heads in coordinating, driving and directing effective operational risk management activities across the Bank, with a focus on relevant SBUs and SRFs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the Operational Risk (OR) framework in close collaboration with Business Operational Risk Managers (BORMs).
  • Drive and support the Operational Risk community in adopting and embedding relevant operational risk management toolsets.
  • Carry out timely monthly reconciliation of the Operational Risk loss database and general ledger.
  • Proactively engage BORMs to ensure prompt submission of risk reports and returns.
  • Support the assessment and quantification of operational risk across the Bank using the approved Risk Grading Matrix and other available data.
  • Coach BORMs on appropriate risk grading to support the prioritisation of risk management efforts.
  • Support the Operational Risk community across SBUs and SRFs in the prompt identification and management of operational risks through risk identification and assessment workshops, operational loss event analysis, RCSA analysis and incident analysis.
  • Develop the Operational Risk newsletter, Focus, for bank-wide consumption.
  • Facilitate basic ORM training for new joiners across the Bank and other ad hoc training programmes for the risk community as required.
  • Provide support to BORMs during RCSA workshops to ensure robust outputs.
  • Develop relevant Operational Risk templates and provide guidance to BORMs in line with approved frameworks, policies and best practices.
  • Review, quality-assure and consolidate operational risk issues and losses reported by BORMs for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare the Bank’s Operational Risk profile.
  • Identify and report relevant external loss events for inclusion in operational risk management reports.
  • Analyse the Bank’s internal loss data and report emerging trends.
  • Track potential losses and near-misses and report on them monthly.
  • Support the Risk Analysis and Profiling Team in product reviews.
  • Assist the Head, ORM with secretariat duties for the Bank Risk and Compliance Committee (BRCC).
  • Maintain the security of all information entrusted to the staff and comply with the principles and policies in the Information Security Handbook.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Education

  • Minimum of a First Degree, preferably in a numerate discipline.
  • Higher degrees, MBA or relevant professional certifications are desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of banking structures, policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of core banking processes.
  • Good knowledge of the banking industry.
  • Understanding of banking operations.
  • Knowledge of banking services and products.
  • Familiarity with banking applications.
