Job Description
The Utility Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment in the utility section in line with approved company policies and procedures, ensuring the availability of quality utility services to production and other areas of the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate steam boilers, air compressors, power distribution equipment and other utility systems.
- Maintain utility equipment to minimise downtime and ensure reliable operations.
- Maintain COâ‚‚ access points according to specifications.
- Monitor equipment using established checklists, document findings and prepare shift operation reports.
- Recommend appropriate corrective actions based on equipment monitoring findings.
- Lubricate equipment according to the lubrication schedule and clean equipment after lubrication.
- Ensure safety sensors, reflectors and safety controls are in good working condition.
- Use company-provided personal protective equipment and comply with all health and safety requirements.
Requirements
- HND, BSc or relevant engineering certificate/equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant technical experience, preferably in a shopfloor or production environment.
- Good understanding of plant HQSE requirements and codes.
- Experience with cost-reduction initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of current manufacturing methodologies.
- Good oral communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Basic computer skills.
