AAVA Brands Limited is recruiting a qualified professional to join its Finance Department as a Credit Control Officer.

Job Summary

The Credit Control Officer will be responsible for managing customer credit accounts, monitoring outstanding payments, and ensuring receivables are collected within approved credit terms. The role will support healthy cash flow by reducing overdue accounts and bad debts while maintaining accurate customer records and positive business relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer accounts and ensure payments are received within approved credit periods.
  • Follow up on overdue invoices through calls, emails, and customer visits where required.
  • Prepare and send customer statements, payment reminders, and demand notices.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve payment discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer balances, collections, and receivables ageing.
  • Review customer credit limits and recommend adjustments based on payment history.
  • Work with the Sales team to resolve customer disputes affecting collections.
  • Ensure customer receipts are correctly allocated to the relevant accounts.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly Accounts Receivable ageing and collection reports.
  • Escalate delinquent accounts and recommend appropriate recovery measures.
  • Support month-end closing activities by ensuring customer account balances are accurate.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s credit policies and internal controls.
  • Identify potential credit risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving collection processes and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Line Manager.

Key Performance Indicators

Performance in the role will be assessed using indicators including:

  • Debtor Days / Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
  • Collection rate.
  • Percentage of overdue receivables.
  • Bad debt ratio.
  • Accuracy of customer account reconciliations.
  • Timeliness of financial and collection reporting.
  • Number of disputed invoices successfully resolved.
  • Compliance with credit control policies.

Requirements and Qualifications

Interested candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 2–4 years of experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, Finance, or a similar position.
  • Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or distribution is an added advantage.
  • ICAN, ACCA, or another relevant professional certification is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics is desirable.
  • Good understanding of credit control and debt recovery practices.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts receivable management, financial reconciliation, and analysis.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
