Job Summary
The Growth and Partnership Lead will serve as a key commercial leader responsible for developing strategic relationships and converting high-level engagements into business mandates. The role will involve working with senior government officials, development finance institutions, financial institutions, corporate executives, and other influential stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be expected to manage existing relationships, develop new partnerships, understand clients’ underlying needs, and identify the most suitable solutions across the Group’s business areas. This is a relationship-driven advisory role requiring strong commercial judgement, credibility, and the ability to develop and present compelling proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and strengthen relationships with government, institutional, financial, and corporate stakeholders.
- Identify client needs and match them with appropriate services across the Group.
- Develop new strategic relationships and expand the Group’s commercial network.
- Manage the sales and partnership pipeline from initial engagement through mandate conversion.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell relevant services across different business units.
- Develop proposals, pitch decks, and other commercial materials.
- Lead client presentations, negotiations, and discussions through to successful deal closure.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders while maintaining the Group’s advisory positioning.
- Handle sensitive client, transaction, and commercial information with a high level of confidentiality.
- Work with internal teams to ensure successful delivery of secured mandates.
- Contribute to the development and growth of the Group’s commercial and partnership capabilities.
Requirements and Qualifications
Interested candidates should possess:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, International Development, Public Policy, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, investment banking, management consulting, or senior government and institutional relations.
- Experience across one or more of the following areas: public sector, capital markets and financial services, or technology.
- Proven track record of closing B2G or B2B transactions, including advisory engagements, capital raises, strategic partnerships, or technology deployments.
- Established relationships with public officials, DFIs, MDBs, financial institutions, or corporate decision-makers across Africa and/or the Middle East is an advantage.
- Ability to engage confidently in discussions covering public finance, capital markets, and technology.
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial judgement and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage mandates with minimal supervision.
- Strong proposal development and presentation skills.
- High level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential information.
- Familiarity with government procurement processes, including tenders, expressions of interest, and public bidding, is desirable.
- Additional language skills such as French, Portuguese, or Arabic are an advantage.
