Job Description
The Human Resources Officer will support the development and administration of fair, consistent and legally compliant HR practices across PricePally’s programme workforce. The role will coordinate recruitment, onboarding, employee records, performance management, staff welfare and employee relations.
Key Responsibilities
Workforce Planning, Recruitment and Selection
- Maintain staffing plans, recruitment schedules, vacancy trackers and position documentation.
- Coordinate recruitment, including advertising, application management, shortlisting and interview scheduling.
- Ensure transparent, accessible and equal-opportunity recruitment processes.
- Maintain complete recruitment records and required pre-employment documentation.
- Coordinate reasonable accommodation for applicants where required.
- Provide recruitment updates and escalate procedural concerns.
Onboarding and Employee Records
- Coordinate pre-employment documentation, offers, orientation and onboarding.
- Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records.
- Track probation, contracts, confirmations, renewals, transfers and exits.
- Support induction on organisational values, safeguarding, inclusion, health and safety, data protection and the Code of Conduct.
- Coordinate employee exit and clearance processes.
- Ensure proper handling and retention of employee records.
Performance Management and Development
- Administer goal-setting, probation, performance review and development processes.
- Provide managers and employees with appropriate templates and procedural guidance.
- Track performance reviews, development actions and mandatory training.
- Support training-needs assessments and learning activities.
- Maintain training and competency records.
- Support fair and documented responses to performance issues.
Employee Relations and Welfare
- Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee enquiries.
- Support consistent application of HR policies, employment terms, attendance and leave procedures.
- Maintain confidential records of grievances, disciplinary matters and employee concerns.
- Promote respectful workplace behaviour, staff wellbeing and positive workplace culture.
- Monitor recurring HR issues and provide anonymised trend reports.
- Support staff welfare and reasonable accommodation.
HR Administration and Compliance
- Maintain employee master data, attendance and leave records.
- Prepare HR reports, staff lists, contract trackers and leave summaries.
- Coordinate approved payroll changes and benefits documentation.
- Support compliance with Nigerian labour requirements and company policies.
- Provide HR documentation for audits and reviews.
- Identify and resolve HR record and compliance gaps.
Inclusion, Safeguarding and Professional Conduct
- Promote equitable and inclusive HR practices.
- Support workplace adjustments and reasonable accommodation.
- Ensure employees have access to confidential reporting and grievance channels.
- Support training on safeguarding, PSEA, inclusion, health and safety and data protection.
- Escalate serious concerns relating to safeguarding, harassment, discrimination, retaliation or conflicts of interest.
- Maintain confidentiality, impartiality and professional standards in all HR activities.
Requirements
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of recruitment, onboarding, employee records, performance management, employee relations and HR administration.
- Ability to apply HR policies and employment requirements consistently.
- Strong confidential records management and document-control skills.
- Ability to coordinate HR processes across multiple locations.
- Understanding of equal opportunity, reasonable accommodation, safeguarding and employee duty of care.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational, writing and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools.
- Experience with HR information systems is an advantage.
- High integrity, confidentiality, impartiality and emotional intelligence.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in human resources, people operations, employee administration or a related field.
- Experience coordinating recruitment, onboarding, personnel records, performance processes and HR reporting.
- Experience in multi-location, private-sector, externally funded or development programme environments is desirable.
- Experience handling confidential employee information.
- Experience with employee relations, staff welfare, learning, payroll inputs or HR compliance is an advantage.
- Experience applying gender equality, disability inclusion, reasonable accommodation and safeguarding principles.
- Knowledge of Nigerian employment and labour practices is strongly preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Sociology, Law or a related discipline.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification or professional HR certification is desirable.
- Membership or certification with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) or an equivalent professional body is an advantage.
Other Requirements
- Must have the legal right to live and work in Nigeria.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to programme locations.
- Appointment is subject to satisfactory reference, identity, qualification and applicable background and safeguarding checks.
- The position is a 3-year fixed-term contract, subject to programme funding and partnership arrangements.
