Marriott is recruiting a Maintenance Officer in Owerri, Imo State, to support the maintenance and repair of hotel facilities, equipment and guest rooms. The successful candidate will help ensure that hotel operations run smoothly while maintaining a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for guests and employees.

Responsibilities

Respond to guest maintenance requests and resolve reported repair issues professionally.
Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment and mechanical systems, including cleaning and lubrication.
Inspect equipment, tools and machinery to identify faults and maintenance needs.
Locate and operate equipment shut-off valves and building utility controls.
Maintain maintenance inventory and request spare parts and supplies when necessary.
Communicate daily maintenance activities and outstanding issues to other shifts.
Carry out basic repairs involving air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry and general building maintenance.
Perform painting, minor drywall repairs, wood trim repairs, light bulb replacements and air-conditioning filter changes.
Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical and plumbing problems, including faulty switches, outlets, lamps and blocked drains.
Maintain guest room equipment, television settings, vacuum cleaners and other hotel facilities.
Follow lockout/tagout procedures before carrying out maintenance work.
Maintain interior and exterior areas, including landscaping and sprinkler systems.
Use basic computer applications to update equipment schedules and temperature settings.
Comply with company policies, safety procedures and security requirements.
Report maintenance problems, workplace hazards, accidents and injuries promptly.
Maintain a clean, professional appearance and protect confidential information and company assets.
Welcome guests courteously, respond to their needs and provide assistance where required.
Maintain quality standards and develop positive working relationships with colleagues.
Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members.
Perform physical duties, including lifting and moving equipment, climbing stairs and ladders, and bending or reaching as required.
Enter and retrieve work-related information using computers.
Perform other reasonable duties assigned by management.

Requirements

Interested candidates should meet the following qualifications:

A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
Some experience in general maintenance, painting and interior or exterior surface preparation.
Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is an advantage.
A valid driver’s licence.
Ability to follow safety procedures and company standards.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with colleagues and respond professionally to guest requests.
Physical ability to perform routine maintenance tasks and handle equipment safely.

Supervisory experience is not required.
