Egbin Power Plc is one of Nigeria’s major power generation companies and operates the Egbin Power Plant, a 1,320 MW installed-capacity facility acquired by Sahara through its power division, Sahara Power Group.
Job Summary
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for the timely and cost-effective sourcing of critical tools, spare parts, equipment and operational materials for the plant. The role will also use digital procurement solutions, market intelligence and data analytics to support informed decision-making, operational efficiency and sustainable value creation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Estimate and establish cost parameters and budgets for purchases.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Review and analyse vendors, suppliers and pricing options.
- Negotiate favourable pricing and supply contracts.
- Ensure purchased goods and supplies meet required quality standards.
- Issue requests for quotations for major equipment and services.
- Prepare technical and financial comparison sheets for major or high-value equipment tenders.
- Follow up on client instructions and agreements relating to prices, conditions and delivery timelines.
- Inspect incoming goods upon arrival to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Check and obtain approval for invoices relating to equipment and services.
- Maintain an up-to-date library of suppliers, products and service catalogues.
- Ensure the availability of the required quality and quantity of materials at the plant.
- Optimise procurement lead times and material costs within established guidelines and controls.
- Monitor vendors to ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled on time.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to prevent mechanical and non-mechanical materials from going out of stock.
- Implement Egbin Power’s data protection policies and practices.
- Ensure compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), applicable data protection laws and company policies.
- Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessments where applicable to manage risks associated with data processing.
- Maintain awareness of the Integrated Management System, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 requirements.
- Understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental aspects and impacts related to the role.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, particularly Electrical, Mechanical Maintenance, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, or another relevant discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as an Engineer, Technical Procurement Officer or in a related role.
- Knowledge of supply chain or a related field is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Experience using digital and data analytics tools such as Power BI and Excel to drive efficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with accuracy and precision.
