Job Description
Oando Plc is recruiting a Senior Geologist to provide advanced geological and geophysical expertise in reservoir characterisation, seismic interpretation, static modelling, volumetrics and well planning. The role will support field development, reserves maturation, drilling operations and reservoir management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and updating of 3D static reservoir models.
- Integrate seismic, geological, petrophysical, core and reservoir engineering data.
- Generate reservoir quality maps, volumetrics and development scenarios.
- Conduct advanced 3D seismic interpretation and geophysical evaluations.
- Apply seismic inversion, AVO/AVA, rock physics and attribute analysis.
- Support seismic acquisition and processing quality control.
- Lead subsurface input into well planning, target definition and drilling risk assessment.
- Provide real-time geoscience support during drilling, including geosteering and LWD/MWD interpretation.
- Prepare geological prognosis, end-of-well and post-drill evaluation reports.
- Support Field Development Plans, Reservoir Management Plans and annual reserves reviews.
- Prepare technical documentation for regulatory submissions, JV partners and internal approvals.
- Support reserves reporting in line with SPE-PRMS standards.
- Identify and implement new subsurface technologies and workflows.
- Mentor junior geoscientists and promote technical knowledge sharing.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with subsurface governance standards.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences or a related subsurface discipline.
- 8–12 years of experience in geophysics or geology within oil and gas exploration and production environments.
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as NAPE, AAPG, SEG, EAGE or NMGS.
- Strong experience in 2D/3D seismic interpretation and mapping.
- Experience in 3D static reservoir modelling, prospect generation and risk assessment.
- Experience in well planning, drilling support and geosteering.
- Strong ability to integrate core, well logs, seismic and production data.
- Experience with subsurface software such as Petrel, Kingdom, Hampson-Russell, TNavigator and DecisionSpace.
- Experience in reservoir surveillance and volumetric estimation.
- Advanced training in seismic interpretation, reservoir modelling or rock physics is an advantage.
- Experience with 4D seismic, advanced inversion and AI/ML geoscience tools is desirable.
- Knowledge of carbonate/clastic reservoirs, deepwater environments and SPE-PRMS standards is an advantage.
- Familiarity with petroleum system modelling or geomechanics is desirable.
