Job Description

Oando Plc is recruiting a Tax Manager to oversee the organisation’s tax strategy, advisory, compliance and general tax matters. The role involves managing tax risks, ensuring statutory compliance, supporting business decisions and maintaining strong relationships with tax authorities and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist guidance on tax laws and complex tax matters.
  • Manage tax compliance processes, including computation and filing of tax returns.
  • Review and approve tax positions, advisory documents, accruals and liabilities.
  • Support corporate finance and business transactions with tax advice.
  • Reconcile tax accruals and investigate significant variances.
  • Manage relationships with tax authorities, consultants, lawyers and regulatory bodies.
  • Represent the company in tax meetings, audits, investigations and disputes.
  • Identify tax optimisation opportunities while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Drive internal tax controls and risk management initiatives.
  • Oversee legacy tax liabilities and tax-related cash flows.
  • Provide tax input into project, asset and financial performance analysis.
  • Supervise, coach and develop tax team members.
  • Monitor team performance and promote accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Membership of ICAN or ACCA.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
  • Minimum of 8 years’ cumulative tax experience in a reputable consulting firm, in-house tax department or a combination of both.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a management position.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry or in oil and gas-related tax work.
  • Strong experience in tax compliance, return filing, tax planning and advisory.
  • Knowledge of upstream oil and gas taxation.
  • Experience managing tax audits, investigations, assessments and disputes with the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) and State Internal Revenue Services.
  • Experience in tax governance, risk management and internal controls.
  • Strong knowledge of tax provisioning, financial reporting and reconciliations.
  • Experience providing tax guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of tax optimisation, incentives and exemptions.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant tax applications is an advantage.
  • Legal qualification or relevant legal experience is desirable.
