Job Summary

The Team Lead, Turbine Controls will oversee preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of turbine control systems and support reliable and efficient plant operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to breakdown and corrective maintenance schedules.
• Maintain strong knowledge of Emerson Ovation control systems and Bentley Nevada vibration systems.
• Ensure preventive maintenance activities are completed and properly documented.
• Develop and improve breakdown and corrective maintenance practices.
• Review breakdown and corrective maintenance processes weekly.
• Monitor timely closure of maintenance tasks in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Liaise with the Lead Engineer, Turbine Field Instrumentation, to reassess equipment breakdowns and preventive maintenance requirements.
• Address personnel and human-resource issues and escalate where necessary.
• Ensure monthly and special reports are completed and properly documented.
• Assess staff training needs to improve performance.
• Ensure availability of materials and tools required for maintenance activities.
• Supervise control systems with emphasis on efficiency and environmental sustainability.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE guidelines.
• Develop and periodically review plant patrol and monitoring checklists.
• Support spare-parts planning, budgeting, purchasing and inspection activities.
• Execute documentation in line with Integrated Management System (IMS) standards.
• Implement strategies to improve plant performance and reliability.
• Maintain and periodically review risk registers for breakdown and corrective maintenance activities.
• Perform the covering role of Unit Head, Turbine Systems when required.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Unit Head, Turbine Systems or Head of Department.

Shift Operations Responsibilities

• Oversee turbine and boiler operations during shift duties.
• Coordinate physical inspection and condition monitoring of turbine and boiler equipment.
• Oversee minor adjustments and repairs where required.
• Plan manpower and operational material requirements during shifts.
• Manage unit manpower utilisation and allocation.
• Coordinate with other team leads to ensure efficient plant operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Systems Engineering.
• Postgraduate or relevant professional qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum of 5–10 years’ work experience, including at least 3 years at supervisory level.
• Direct experience with I&C systems and power plant maintenance processes.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a power plant, including at least 3 years in a supervisory position at a plant of at least 200 MW.
• Good technical knowledge and understanding of I&C systems and their operational history.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
• Good knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of the relevant technical discipline.
