About Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a 15-member regional organisation established on 28 May 1975 through the Treaty of Lagos, with a mandate to promote economic integration across its Member States. ECOWAS comprises Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Senegal, and Togo.
