West African Exploration and Production Company Limited (WAEP Nigeria Ltd) is a Nigerian oil and gas company incorporated under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 25 February 2014. The company is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under RC No. 1173358 and operates in the exploration and production sector.WAEP has a strategic partnership with Dangote Exploration Assets Limited, Dansa Energy Resources Limited and First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited. In 2015, the company acquired a 45% working interest in OML 71 and OML 72 from the SPDC Joint Venture involving Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, Total E&P Nigeria Limited and Nigerian Agip Oil Company Limited. WAEP serves as the operator of OML 71 and OML 72 on behalf of the WAEP-NNPC Joint Venture. Located south of Bonny Island, the assets contain several discovered oil and gas fields. OML 72 has seven major discovered fields, including Kalaekule, KD, Koronama, Kugbe, KL, KQ and Kappa, while OML 71 contains two main fields, KI and KI South.Kalaekule is currently the only field among these assets that has been developed and produced. It produced an average of approximately 22,000 barrels of oil per day between 1986 and 2002 before being shut in to allow for the planned refurbishment of its facilities.With significant estimated hydrocarbon resources across OML 71 and OML 72, WAEP is positioned to participate in further oil and gas development in Nigeria.
