Role Purpose

The Well Operations Supervisor will provide experienced frontline leadership for offshore well operations, ensuring the safe, controlled, and efficient execution of well production, intervention, integrity, testing, workover, and related well activities while maintaining well barriers and strict compliance with well-control and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise offshore well operations, including well start-up, shut-in, testing, intervention support, integrity activities, and production-related well operations.
  • Provide operational leadership for wellhead and Christmas tree activities and ensure the correct status and integrity of safety-critical well barriers.
  • Coordinate slickline, e-line, coiled tubing, nitrogen lifting, well testing, workover, and other intervention activities as applicable.
  • Verify well programmes, operating procedures, risk assessments, permits, isolations, and barrier requirements before execution.
  • Monitor well pressures, annuli, operating parameters, and abnormal trends and ensure timely escalation and corrective action.
  • Supervise pressure testing, leak troubleshooting, well-control system checks, and controlled well reinstatement activities.
  • Lead pre-job meetings, toolbox talks, Job Safety Analyses, and operational readiness reviews for well activities.
  • Coordinate company personnel, service companies, contractors, production teams, and offshore installation interfaces during well operations.
  • Ensure compliance with well-control principles, Well Integrity Management System requirements, SIMOPS, and approved Management of Change processes.
  • Maintain accurate daily well reports, activity records, pressure/test documentation, and operational handovers.
  • Lead responses to well-related operational abnormalities and support emergency response drills and incident investigations.
  • Coach well technicians and junior personnel and promote strong well-control discipline, technical competence, and safe operating behaviours.

Qualifications and Experience

  • HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering/Technical discipline.
  • 12–15 years’ relevant upstream well operations experience, with substantial offshore supervisory experience in well operations, intervention, wellhead, or production environments.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience with surface wellheads, Christmas trees, well intervention operations, pressure-control equipment, and well-integrity activities is required.
  • Valid IWCF/IADC well-control certification at an appropriate supervisory level is strongly preferred.
  • Valid offshore medical, BOSIET/HUET, and relevant H2S/emergency-response certifications are required.
