The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is Denmark’s largest non-governmental organization and a leading international entity specializing in forced displacement. Established in 1956, DRC operates in 40 countries worldwide, supported by a dedicated workforce of 8,000 employees. Our mission is to protect, advocate for, and build sustainable futures for refugees and other individuals and communities affected by displacement.
DRC’s work spans all stages of displacement, addressing needs from acute crises and exile to settlement, integration, and eventual return. We provide critical protection and life-saving humanitarian assistance while supporting displaced persons in achieving self-reliance and integration into host societies. Our efforts include collaborating with civil society and responsible authorities to ensure the protection of rights and promote peaceful coexistence. In Denmark, our 6,000 volunteers play a crucial role in integration activities, making a significant impact on the lives of displaced individuals and communities across the country.
