Job Summary
The Driver is responsible for operating EHA Clinics’ official vehicles and ensuring the safe and responsible transportation of employees, patients and other authorised individuals. The role also involves running official errands, supporting shuttle transportation, maintaining assigned vehicles and assisting with other office assignments as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Purpose
- Ensure compliance with company regulations, internal policies and established guidelines.
- Safely transport employees and other individuals as directed.
- Provide shuttle transportation for campaigns, projects, airports and distribution runs.
- Drive patients in an ambulance when required.
Engagement
- Report all safety, security and driving incidents to the supervisor immediately where possible.
- Maintain a professional, friendly and respectful approach when interacting with management, supervisors, colleagues and other individuals.
- Greet individuals warmly and provide courteous service at all times.
Delivery
- Maintain schedules for pick-up and drop-off assignments.
- Frequently travel between company worksites as required.
- Ensure vehicles are in proper and safe condition before use.
- Report vehicle damage, mechanical faults and other issues promptly and provide recommendations for repairs.
- Keep assigned vehicles clean and in good condition.
- Carry out routine vehicle checks and ensure compliance with relevant laws and company policies.
- Comply with company policies regarding mobile phone use, smoking in company vehicles and prohibited equipment while on duty.
Requirements
- Completion of secondary school education.
- Valid certificates or licences required for vehicle operation.
- Previous experience as a driver or chauffeur.
- Good knowledge of local streets, routes and major destinations in Kano.
- Knowledge of basic automobile repair and maintenance.
- Ability to understand written and spoken instructions.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
