UNICEF is recruiting a qualified Nutrition Social Behaviour Change and Knowledge Management Consultant to support its nutrition programme in Abuja. This office-based consultancy offers an opportunity to strengthen communication, advocacy, youth engagement, stakeholder coordination, media engagement, donor visibility, and knowledge management initiatives that improve nutrition outcomes for children and communities across Nigeria.

Job Summary

Working under the supervision of the Nutrition Manager and in collaboration with Nutrition, Social and Behaviour Change (SBC), Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships (CAP), Adolescent Development and Participation (ADAP), and Field Office teams, the consultant will provide strategic and technical support for communication, advocacy, social mobilization, youth engagement, stakeholder engagement, media relations, donor recognition, and knowledge management activities across UNICEF Nigeria’s nutrition programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen communication and advocacy strategies for nutrition programmes.
  • Support social and behaviour change (SBC) initiatives.
  • Coordinate stakeholder, community, youth, and media engagement activities.
  • Enhance donor visibility and recognition initiatives.
  • Lead knowledge management, documentation, and programme reporting.
  • Develop case studies, success stories, multimedia content, and communication materials.
  • Support programme monitoring, learning, and evidence dissemination.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Social and Behaviour Change (SBC), Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Development, Public Policy, Mass Communication, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in advocacy, communication, social mobilization, community engagement, SBC, youth engagement, media relations, knowledge management, documentation, or related fields.
  • Experience supporting large-scale public health, nutrition, maternal and child health, adolescent, or social development programmes.
  • Proven experience working with UNICEF, UN agencies, government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, media, youth networks, and communities.
  • Strong communication, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, monitoring and evaluation, and programme documentation skills.
  • Experience in digital engagement, social media campaigns, media relations, and innovative communication approaches.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, storytelling, networking, and partnership-building skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UN rules, procedures, and regulations.
  • Previous experience working with the United Nations or other international development organizations.
  • Experience in Nigeria’s humanitarian and development sector.
  • Working knowledge of relevant local languages.
